Iga Małobęcka-Szwast, LL.M.

Iga holds a PhD in law (University of Warsaw) and is a graduate of LL.M. studies in Law and Economics at the Utrecht University (summa cum laude).  At the Law Firm, Karolina works on the Technologies Media Telecommunications team. She specialises in new technologies law, in the broad sense of the term, and is mainly focused on issues related to personal data protection law and privacy protection.

Iga graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw (summa cum laude). During her studies, she was on a one-year scholarship at the Faculty of Law at the Humboldt University in Berlin. She also completed German Law Studies organised by the University of Warsaw in cooperation with the University of Bonn.

Prior to joining our Law Firm, Iga worked in one of Poland’s leading law firms, where she supported clients, including German-speakers, in issues related to personal data protection law, consumer law, and companies law. She completed an internship at a major telecommunications company in Germany, where she was on a personal data protection team, a competition law team, and a corporate governance team.

Iga has authored academic publications concerning personal data protection law, competition and consumer protection law, and EU law. In January 2020 she defended her doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw. In her dissertation Iga examined the influence of data on the assessment of abuse of the dominant position by Internet plaforms. She lectures in European Union law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw.

She is fluent in English and German, including in legalese, and speaks Spanish.
